We have had rain and hail the past night/day/night -- then today it is all sunshine (and wind). On one hand I enjoy the variety in the weather but on the other it would be nice to go more than a day and a half without changing wardrobe again *amused* How lovely that is really the current "worst" thing to be worried about at the moment! Tried to take a photo of the sudden (and short) downpour of hail last night. This shot (back balcony) was the best I could do. Happy Wednesday everyone!
It was a lovely surprise, getting rain last night, which continued throughout the night and for most of today! Did feel extra lazy (is that possible?) so I did not end up doing any laundry. I did however finish two out of what was three loads of dirty dishes which is good :) Enjoying life curled up with a tie blanket, plenty of water, and no specific plan for the day. Very lucky... yet part of me still wants to get up and go back to washing the last of the dishes (not such a good idea because the edges of my hands are still "pruney" from hand washing a large portion of cookware/dishes/utensils -- three large glass dishes, some tupperware, and two wine glasses are all that is left so I shall "let" someone else do those last few items). Suppose I did wash more than two-thirds of the dirty stuff and that is good enough for today. Hope that everyone is doing/will do something today that helps to enjoy life
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
(This song/these images were just begging to be put online today -- yesterday/today/tomorrow there is, once again, finally rain where I am! So lovely!)
"Blown Away" sung by Carrie Underwood at the CMAs 2012
(CMA - Country Music Awards show)
A couple of weeks ago one of my family members kept repeating "There's not enough rain in Oklahoma" -- but they could not say which song it was from, nor remember much more of the lyrics. I was watching the CMAs the other night and realized that it was from the song "Blown Away" and I liked how the dress designed for Carrie Underwood resembled a storm (just the overall performance I enjoyed). So that is it from me today, have been staying indoors enjoying that it is cold/rainy/damp/possibly starting to snow -- yet I get to play with the dog and drink tea as well as read! Oh, below are the lyrics -- have a great three day weekend! (Shall post something about Veterans Day, no worries!)
"Blown Away" Dry lightning cracks across the skies Those storm clouds gather in her eyes Her daddy was a mean old mister Mama was an angel in the ground The weather man called for a twister She prayed blow it down
There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma To wash the sins out of that house There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma To rip the nails out of the past Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away 'til there’s nothing left standing Nothing left of yesterday Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away Blown away She heard those sirens screaming out Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch She locked herself in the cellar Listened to the screaming of the wind Some people called it taking shelter She called it sweet revenge
Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away 'til there’s nothing left standing Nothing left of yesterday Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away Blown away
There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma To wash the sins out of that house There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma To rip the nails out of the past Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away (blown away)Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away (blown away) 'til there’s nothing left standing Nothing left of yesterday (blown away) Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away
I have those lyrics floating around in my mind now that the weather has finally (knock on wood!) gotten cooler! "Raindrops keep falling on my head"... Have realized that I miss spending time with young kids, and am going to look to volunteer again. Am also going to continue walking three (or four?) days a week and read two books a week. Small steps, yet I want to make sure I can achieve the goals I set. Tomorrow I want to be sure to do laundry, perhaps wash my bedding as well... The doctor appt today went alright, I have another on Thursday and then two more next week. One foot in front of the other, right? Things will be alright and in the meantime I think I shall go back and look through photos of my godson and his twin sister to remind me of how much fun those munchkins were during their visit this past summer! The night sky has been helping me remember my "France family" although I have not yet made it to the beach nor the mountains -- the moon and some stars have been visible on various nights, very pretty!
"Keep the faith. Hold on. Things will get better. It might be stormy now, but it can't rain forever."
Part of what drew me to this image was the raindrops (I do love when it rains - and in the middle of another heat wave yet again I find myself looking for rain, or at least a drop in the temperature!)... Part of me loves the red leaf because it shows a change in season (although I have no idea what tree it came from, I used to know things like that but have forgotten)... And part of me likes the support/encouragement that the various phrases scattered around the image say.
Overall my health is holding steady now, which is good. On the other hand, my recent "dip" in health is probably the worst since 2006 (prior to that it was 2004, prior to that was... the early 1980's??)... I am going to just hang on for now and try to focus on what I can do. In this heat that includes much more DVD viewing and television watching, although I still am reading which is good :) I think perhaps I will move my "book/reading" posts to Tuesdays instead of Mondays but am not sure at the moment...
Today I finished another book and decided to start re-reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder series! Hopefully everyone is enjoying this weekend and at least some of you are not stuck with the recent heat wave - excessive heat is getting a bit bothersome - but I do not want the humidity AND high heat back so I should not complain! More good news: my godson, his twin sister, and their parents (ie "My France Family") are currently having their first camping experience overseas! Only received a few photos so far but it seems like everyone is having fun!
